Welcome to Share Your Heart: TriVersity’s Got Talent - The Virtual Edition, where YOU, dear spectator, help choose the winner of the competition and the $500 that goes with it! All events under the Share Your Heart umbrella honor the life and legacy of one of TriVersity’s earliest supporters, Linda Troise. Linda was dedicated to ending food insecurity in the Upper Delaware Valley and beyond. Therefore, the net proceeds from TriVersity’s Got Talent go to the Ecumenical Food Pantry at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Milford, PA. We are very fortunate to have generous sponsors for this year’s event who are helping to subsidize the costs for all of this year’s prizes so that we can give even more to the Food Pantry! Here is some further information on what promises to be a fantastic event. Before purchasing your ticket, please read the below information, especially the section regarding Admissions. Because this event is on Zoom, ticket purchasing is a tad more complicated than the pay-at-the-door system of old.

Date: February 20th, 2021

Time: 7 pm - Conclusion. The Virtual Venue will open its cyber doors at 6:30 pm and the competition will begin as close to 7 pm as possible. Please arrive early or on time or else you might miss some of the fun!

Location: Zoom. The cost of one Admission Fee fee entitles you to the link to access the competition. Please do not share this link with anyone outside of your household. The less admissions we receive, the less the Ecumenical Food Pantry receives. Violation of the rule may subject you and your household to being banned from the event with no refund provided.

Admissions: The cost of admission is $15 per device/vote. While one admission fee will allow you and your household to watch the competition over one device, should you desire to use multiple devices, additional admission fees are required for each additional device. The reasoning behind this comes down to voting. Each device allows for a separate vote using Zoom’s polling feature, and we want to limit the number of votes to the number of admission fees paid.

Separate votes require the use of separate devices...and a good working knowledge of Zoom as well. If Zoom gives you trouble, we recommend just buying a single admission/device/vote. However, email StevenTeague@triversitycenter.org and we will do our best to ensure you can cast all the votes your household has to cast.

We will begin accepting admission fees on February 1st. You purchase your admission(s) by going to www.triversitycenter.org/donate. Remember, Admission is $15 per device/vote. Should you prefer paying by check, please e-mail StevenTeague@triversitycenter.org.

When submitting payment, please include a regularly-checked email address. Our Executive Director, Steven Teague, will then contact you with more information regarding your Admission.

Zoom links will be e-mailed one week prior to the event. To make this competition as fair as possible, please do not purchase more devices/votes than you have members of your household. Violation of this rule may disqualify the votes of you and every member of your household with no refund provided.

Technology: Because we are unable to hold this event live, we are dependent on power, functioning internet, and a functioning Zoom platform. If we, for whatever reason, are unable to hold the event at the scheduled date and time, we will reach out to determine whether you would like a refund of your purchase price. As an alternative, you could have us donate your Admission directly to the Food Pantry. So long as we are able to offer the event as scheduled, no other refunds will be provided.

The Competition: TriVersity’s Got Talent takes place in two rounds: the open round and the final round. Prior to the competition, each contestant will be assigned a category based on the type of performance. In the Open Round, you will see or hear from all of our contestants, who will perform anywhere from 3-5 minutes. At the conclusion of the open round, you will be presented polls for each category. After compiling the scores, the highest ranked contestant in each category will be chosen as the winner of their category and shall receive an automatic berth in the finals. Upon the announcement of the category winners, you will be presented a final poll for the runners-up in each category. The winner of that poll will be named the “Wild Card Finalist.” There may be up to 5 finalists in total. As you can see, YOU are the sole judge when it comes to determining Finalists!!

In the event of a tie in the Open Round among any/all of the categories and/or the wild card poll, the event hosts have sole discretion in choosing the method to resolve the tie(s). This decision shall be made in real time. In no circumstance, however, will the hosts resolve a tie using a method of chance (coin toss, drawing, etc.).

In the Final round, each Finalist must convince a panel of two judges--one judge being named head judge--plus YOU, the audience, as the third judge, that they deserve the title of TriVersity’s Got Talent. The judges will rank each Finalist from 1st to Last. You will then be presented one last poll, which will be used to rank the finalists from 1st to Last. Once the ranks are received, the scores will be tabulated using a Consensus Ordinal Ranking System, and the Winner shall be named!!

The Winner Receives a Cash Prize of $500!

In the event of an overall tie, the Audience vote will determine the winner. In theory, it is possible that two contestants receive the same number of votes from the Audience. In the event of an overall tie + an Audience tie, the decision of the head judge will determine the winner.

Contestants: Anyone 15 and over is eligible to be a contestant on TriVersity’s Got Talent subject to the approval of the event hosts, Steven Teague, Wendy Stuart, and John Hellman. No contestant shall receive preferential treatment or face discrimination on the basis of race, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, political/ideological affliation, or status as a professional entertainer.

As stated above, each contestant shall be assigned a category, at the discretion of the event hosts, based on a description of their planned performance. Although categories have yet to be determined, examples would be “Musicians” or “Variety Performers.”

All contestants, solo or ensemble, must attest that they are following their states’ COVID-19 prevention guidelines/mandates.. Violation of this rule will subject the contestant to disqualification.

Judges: As mentioned above, alongside the audience, a panel of two judges will determine the winner of TriVersity’s Got Talent. Judges shall remain completely independent of one another. They shall not confer in any way. Violation of this rule will subject the Judge to disqualification. Judges shall not show preferential treatment toward nor discriminate against any contestant for any reason, including but not limited to race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, political/ideological affliation, or status as a professional entertainer. Violation of this rule will subject the Judge to automatic disqualification. A Judge must be present for each Finalist’s performance. In the event that a Judge is unable to view the performance of any Finalist, that judge shall be disqualified.

In the event of a judge disqualification, the Audience vote shall prevail. If there is an Audience tie, the remaining judge will determine the winner. In the extremely unlikely event that both judges are disqualified, the Audience vote shall prevail. If there is a tie among the audience, there will be a second vote. If there remains a tie, the tied Contestants will share the title but may either choose to split the money or allow a coin toss to determine the overall prize winner.

Recording and Photography: This event will be recorded and photos will be taken and shared on social media. Should you not desire your picture or name to be shared, please do not enable your video and please use a pen name.

Alrighty, that’s all you the info we can think of providing for the time being. If you have any questions/concerns, please reach out to StevenTeague@triversitycenter.org. We look forward to you joining the show!!
